Theme: Synergy

Joint meet of Area C4 three(3) club's on 9th Sept 2020.

Script for T-MOD Role:

Introduction of Theme:

In 1866, two separate entrepreneurs started milk business.  They were rivals and both competing companies in Switzerland. By, 1905 both men were dead, but the two companies were doing good. Later, merged to become one. Today it’s the largest food company and we call it NESTLE. Remembered Maggi, kit-kat, Nescafe N number of our favorite products. By coming together, instead on their own they showed synergy. It’s all about Interaction and collaboration to achieve greater Goal.

Good evening fellow toastmasters and my dear guests.

I welcome you all to this 627th Meeting of Infosys Pune Toastmasters Club, 299th Meeting of TMC Pune North West and 25th Meet of Eaton Toastmasters with our theme for today being Synergy. Yes, as theme is about working together, instead on their own, we have this Joint Meet of Area C4 today.

For me Synergy is all about 3 C’s: Communication Collaboration Cooperation.Same way our structure of toastmasters meeting also has 3 parts. Today we have an additional Educational session as well by TM Prachi:

Let me now quickly explain the structure of a Toastmasters meeting:

The structure of a Toastmasters meeting is designed in such a way that the Toastmasters helps us in improving our communication and leadership skills and we in turn help each other to further improve upon it. Our meeting would consist of three sections:

1.Prepared speech sections, wherein the club members deliver their prepared speeches or rather attempt projects from their pathway manuals.

2.Then, we have a very interesting and thought-provoking Table Topics Session (a kind of Impromptu Speaking Session) in which a topic would be given to you by our Table Topics Master and all you have to do is come up and speak on it spontaneously. This is a session especially for our esteemed guests to help them experience the art of public speaking. Also, you stand a chance of winning the Best Table Topic Speaker award complemented with our 100 Rs Amazon voucher.

3.Any lastly, we have our evaluation session wherein the Individual Evaluators evaluate the prepared speakers and the General Evaluator with his TAG team evaluates the entire meeting in general.

GUEST REGISTER

Now, let me introduce someone, who would be evaluating every little thing of the meeting. Our General Evaluator, TM Raghavendra from TMC Pune north west. According to Tm Raghavendra, "By proper communication we can have better synergy among team." Once again, A huge round of applause for TM Raghavendra.

TM Raghavendra is not alone; He has her three helping hands along: the TAG team. Where T stands for Timer, A stands for Ah Counter and G stands for Grammarian.

Our Grammarian for today, TM Richa will help us in improving our grammar and vocabulary.

Tm Richa, strongly believes "in Encouraging people to socialize outside of work. She wants teamwork as a must to become a part of our culture". This thoughts so well resonate with our theme. Join me in welcoming our Grammarian, a girl with a beautiful smile, TM Richa.

Our Ah Counter, TM Venkatesh is from TMC pune north west. He would be noting any overused words or filler sounds, crutch by anyone who speaks during the meeting. He believes use of social media to “Connect with each other in today’s fast life through whatsapp, Facebook, instagram etc. Also through some of the applications like zoom, skype, Microsoft teams, google meet, Google duo etc”. I think we all are using it extensively. Join me in welcoming our Ah Counter, TM Venkatesh

Final member of TAG team, our Timer, TM Paragi(IPTMC)would be monitoring the time for each meeting segment and each speaker. She says " Cooperation is important for fostering relationships and for achieving cooperation, people need honesty, support and tolerance. Trust is vital factor for cooperation. Be open while sharing your thoughts." Those are powerful thought can build strong synergy in our world. With a huge round of applause let me welcome our Timer, someone who has a mesmerizing voice, TM Paragi.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------_

Now it’s time to start with the first section of our meeting that is the Prepared Speech Section.

First Speaker:

TM Irene is attempting L3 P3 from “Leadership Development” Pathways and is mentored by Tm “Joylan”. Before that, I would request her evaluator, TM Jai Singh from TMCPNW to read out the objectives of TM Irene speech, I asked Tm Jai Singh how one can connect better. He feels “Today no one has time for others. First understand other person need and if it matches with you only then other person connects with you. We have common goals, so we are together” It’s how we are together in Toastmasters meet: Leadership and Public Speaking. Over to you TM Jay Singh

Put your hands together for the wonder woman of IPTMC diligent lady, TM Irene. Let me quickly share her thoughts about connecting in today world “Even if the world is fast if you have empathy you can connect with anyone”. Wow it was inspiring.

TM Irene – " She is so beautiful

She is so beautiful" - TM Irene.

 Speaker 2

Our next speaker is TM Sneha. She is from Eaton TMC attempting (L1 P2 S2) from “Innovative Planning” Pathways. I would request her evaluator, TM Ashwini from IPTMC to read out the objectives of TM Sneha’s speech, TM Ashwini believes “By taking time to personally interact over a phone or a visit instead of only a like on social media” we can have better interaction in today’s fast world. Over to you Ashwini

Put your hands together for the second speaker whose speech is awaited TM Sneha. She believes in doing things out of love๐Ÿ’–, not for love. It Always worked for her to get cooperation from people” so well said TM sneha. Can we Have TM Sneha unmuted.

TM Sneha – "  Me & Tommy  Me & Tommy" - TM Sneha.

Third Speaker:

Our next speaker is TM Hina Sharma is attempting L4 P1 from “Dynamic Leadership” Pathways and is mentored by Tm “Sagar Gupta”.I would request her evaluator, TM Amruta to read out the objectives of TM Hina’s Speech. Before it let me tell what Amruta says about build synergy in team: “Encourage people to socialize outside of work. Getting to know co-workers outside of work can boost interdependence and increase team communication and collaboration”. Over to you Amruta

Put your hands together for TM Hina’s, Before that Let’s see what she thinks “Give a call rather than text .... do not leave the Human touch behind”.

TM Hina Sharma– " Change is the catalyst

Change is the catalyst "- TM Hina Sharma

Now is the time for our Educational Session. Someone whose Talks, Evaluation and session are always Interesting. She, believe being empathetic in these times is the key.” A huge round of applause to a lady with a wide smile and a wonderful session coming ahead, by TM Prachi.

 -----------------------------------

Now is the time for our most awaited session that is table topic session and to conduct the same let me call a person who has believe “rather than chatting we should call up and connect with our friends and family members. Socializing on calls is far more helpful than on messages”. Put your hands together for our very Energetic TTM TM Sheryl.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What a TT session it was. Topics were so varied and intriguing.

TM Paragi were all TT speaker were on time

And now it’s time to those who have been meticulously scrutinizing the meeting, our individual evaluators, TAG team

and General Evaluator to take over. ……

Before Signing off: I would like to sum up saying that:

I believe taking out sometime and talking with each other, spending with our loved ones and friends, listening to each other’s problems, being there for each other can really help in better synergy. A huge round of applause for General Evaluator of the day, TM Raghvendra.

Humourous Speech contest: If there was no Google

Delivered on 16th Sept 2020 in IPTMC

Title: If there was no google

Have you ever tried to google your problem? Small or large, someone would have put an answer on internet, saying your problem is nothing. Mine is bigger, and you would end of reading someone else's problem..

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good evening fellow toastmasters and dear guest.  No response to my greetings. I think audience is still thinking about their problems. I will tell you guys the one problem in your life.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your E-mail ID password is going to expire on 9/16/2020 10:13:03 AM Indian Standard Time. Change your password NOW!!! It is recommended that you do not wait till the last day of password expiry!!! and we don’t change passwords till last date. Am I right, that way? I change my password on time.  I have changed password more that 100 times in past few years : Outlook hounds me every month. Do you remember when Gmail asked to change password. Gmail never asked me to change the password until last month. Last Month, Gmail also asked me to change the password. but it said you haven’t password in last 10 years. It was computer class, my teacher smacked hard on my head, focus on making your g-mail and not suggesting girls what should be there passwords. It was there, in such hostile environment I was introduced to google and Gmail. My first google search was: “Why do Indian teachers beat students? ”I just google it whatever might be my problem.

Growing up, I made Gmail my one stop solution to all my problems: Whatsoever difficult problem in your life, just open your Gmail account. I am sure there you will get solution of all your problems. Let’s see what I have today

I want to study in foreign university, more than 100 universities mails, 50 offering  100% scholarship,20 offered me no hostel charges and free food and 2 universities will come to my house to pick and drop.

High-5 banks giving me loan for no reason with least interest rate. Banks giving loan in 10 min.

Companies offering jobs with salary much more than my current one, but initial deposit worth two years of my salary

Some XYZ clinic, guarantee solution to all problems maybe that be Hair-loss.

This is interesting, Mails from Robin sharma, Heyy Nageshwar you are awesome and I’ve decided to share my entire playbook that I’d previously only offered to my ultra-successful clients, so that you will x25 the rest of your pro and private life.

What else I need in my life. Am I right, that way?

My other problem: I was nuked the day when educator came up with recursion concept. Educator will all his might tried to explain recursion to me. Then, I went to my crush, with all her charisma tried to explain recursion, all I got about recursion that it causes headache. Then she took me to a guy. That fellow, we won’t talk about it. I just googled it. Finally, googled recursion. I got correct result but Did you mean: recursion. I clicked, again same page with same question Did you mean: recursion. After 5th click, I understood what is recursion better than anyone in the class and myself came up with simplest definition of recursion. Me going to my crush, my crush going to her crush itself is a recrusion. Am I right, that way? Google has its own way of teaching you.

My other problem: We like people who don’t forget our birthday and wishes on time. Google not all wishes me on birthday, but on all festivals, even wishes me on valentine’s day, though only day I don’t get whats app forward. So I wondered, if google is a girl or boy? If you think, I again googled it for results, you are absolutely wrong. Google obviously is a girl, who starts suggesting, answers even before we complete our questions. If girls still don’t agree with this, just remove G,O,O what left is GLE. Am I right, that way? You can thank me later to make you realize this.

There's a famous quote that is attributed to Albert Einstein: “Never memories something that you can look up.” All he meant was just google it. Now coming to the most difficult question. What if there is no google? It’s a Good question …I will google it.

The best baba/Google baba. 100 times in past few years because I forget my password. Likewise try to add some twist/surprise/ punchline after 2nd or 3rd sentence.

Opening:

In next 5 minutes I will suggest you guys the best solution to all your problems. Common tell me, what are your difficulties in life. Personal, professional or extra-marital whatever. Even though this is humorous speech, I am talking on a very serious note.

MY ICE-BREAKER SPEECH

For your first speech project, you will introduce yourself to your fellow club members and give them some information about your background, interests and ambitions. Practice giving your speech to friends or family members, and strive to make eye contact with some of your audience. You may use notes during your speech if you wish.

OBJECTIVES:

To begin speaking before an audience.

To discover speaking skills you already have and skills that need some attention.

Time: Four to six minutes

TITLE: Breaking Ice Again

Opening

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on the earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.

------------------- Good Evening Fellow TM and dear guest -----------------------

Today, I will re-initiate what I started long back but ceased on the way before it could reach its correct Milestone.

BODY

MAIN POINT #1

When I was a child, teachers used to say “he is very studious and silent”. I knew the value of One(1) single mark long back, when I missed my rank in 2nd class. However, my mother never understood that silent compliment which I got. In her words “He is silent, do visit our house someday. He is the most Notorious among his siblings”.  That evening I found myself, fighting with my brother with cushions and all the cotton came out of cushions. It was true indeed, but in school it was different. Standing out of the crowd was so difficult.

For an oral exam, I had to go and recite poetry in front of the entire class. As soon as the teacher called me on the dais, all the eyes were on me. This made me forget everything and created a phobia in my mind.

MAIN POINT #2

However, I Ioved solving math, learning answers by heart in the history class and performing Experiments in science. I went to stage first time for a Quiz Contest in 7th class and won it. All motivated, Next year I participated in an Elocution and Extempore contest but failed miserably. This frightened me and I again forgot everything. It was a De javu’ moment for me. Many years passed, but the fear in my mind was still there and still the same My teacher was disappointed with me. I never tried to give a speech in school again. I gave my first proper speech in front of whole Class in my first year of engineering. I got a standing ovation and gladly didn’t get stuck in between. It was a moment of Eureka. I had failed a few times in the past but the only reason was that I had never tried enough. I started looking for more opportunities to learn and develop public speaking skills. At the Same time, I came to know about an organization (I3- Influence Inspire Impact) and there I got plenty of opportunities for public speaking. We had many social projects to do, and one project was Y2C.

 MAIN POINT #3

IN young to Children motivation project, we had to motivate children and make sure we made an Impact on their lives. At first, I was not sure a school would allow me or not to interact with their kids. I tried in a few schools nearby but was given later dates, some said exams are on and gave many such reasons. I faced rejection everywhere. However, some allowed on the spot, to interact with the kids. It was fun and learning for me. On approaching one school, the principal cheered us for the initiative and said, "You can can come on friday. We will make sure students are gathered together in a hall with Mike and speakers set up." This was more than I had expected. It was a big opportunity for me but bigger responsibility to make an impact. I called my team who had done such Y2C project but no one had done on such a large scale. I took the lead, they joined me.

We were team of 5 on D-Day. Everything was planned. We had fun activity, inspiring anecdotes, shayri and many more such events. The host had decided to introduce every speaker in a creative way. I was wondering how would he introduce me? The session was rocking. Teachers seemed so delighted that principal allowed such a session to take place/to be organised. I was the last speaker of the day. I felt my speech would be a mere formality, as the sessions had already been awe-inspiring and applauds made it obvious. I had to give my speech and then interact with the kids, if they were facing any problems in studies and suggest solutions by my personal experience. The host introduced me as "Now it’s time for you guys to hear thoughts of our leader, we are here because of his sincere efforts and hence this wonderful session is happening”!! I felt nervous after such kind words, but confidently held the mike probably for the first time and addressed the gathering. I enjoyed every moment that day and kicked off my public speaking Journey.

Restate the Main Points:

When I lost my rank by mere 1-mark, I studied harder next term and I got the rank back. But when I forgot few lines while reciting poetry, I didn’t try.

When I won Quiz contest, I was motivated and participated actively Next year. Again when I failed in Elocutions or Extempore, I gave up on trying to give speech in school.

You never know what you can do until you try, and very few try unless they have to. I had to give speech as a part of my curriculum in my first year of engineering so I tired but this time I had the right mental attitude. I didn’t let lack of opportunity of public speaking, affect this time. If, Opportunity didn’t knock, I had to build a door.

I took me a lot of time to give my Ice breaker, I correctly remember that day I entered a hall in Mysore and someone was delivering his speech. I never thought I would be so late. Back when Lockdown started I had in mind that virtual Meetings won’t be worthy enough but when I took up a role, it was other way. I wanted same experience of my Ice breaker speech in a HALL same like the one I had witnessed, But Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal.

I WILL CONCLUDE BY SAYING “You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

Theme : Ah counter for One Infy TM meets on 5th July 2020.

Yesterday, I was checking my mailbox. By the way, not the outlook one but my personal one. We must check it sometime. One particular mail was from NPTEL which caught my attention, of course I never visited NPTEL site after landing Job in Infy. Special lecture series by Mr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra @Sr. Geo Lead - Talent Acquisition, Infosys and the Topic was Career at Infosys for Fresher’s. That lecture brought nostalgia Down the memory lanes, gliding over my past days preparing for Infosys campus Placements, getting offer letter then that period waiting for Joining date all was worth it. Finally, on 8th October my Infosys memories began and I cherish each and every one of them till date. All in, this one is very special added today…. across various DC’s we are able to meet and share thoughts.

Good evening fellow TM and dear guests…

Coming from memories to my role, In lot of moments there are few moments in our routine, especially in IT profession where the widows is taking time to load, or browser is connecting, please wait a moment pop up or most vital desktop is hanged.  We have these moments every day, we don’t want though. Similarly, in our speeches there are unintentional pauses, filler pattern and ah counts which we are use to while speaking but can’t be ignored as it distracts audience. Here comes my role as an Ah counter in today’s meet, I will be monitoring the usage of Ahs, crutch words, filler patterns and unintentional pauses, both long and short. I’ll be keeping a record of the Ahs which are sounds like Ah, Um, Err, Hmm etc. Crutch words and filler patterns are words used to fill our thought process and include words such as ‘you know’, ‘I mean’, ‘actually’, ‘like’.A short pause is a pause up to 3 seconds and a long pause, over 3 seconds. So let’s try to have pauses as rightly-timed as possible and aim to minimize the use of unintended pauses, Ahs and filler words in our speech.
I will be presenting my report when the general evaluator calls for the report and would also be mentioning the perfect articulator of the day. A perfect Articulator is the person who would be using minimum ah counts and filler words. Best of luck to the all speakers. Lastly, also there are some courageous moments when we do stuffs out of our comfort zone, especially for first timers. Please avail the opportunity and participate actively.

Theme: Make hay while the sun shines, Role: Timer

Role takers for 1 April 2020
MEETING 603
Virtual zoom meeting

Theme: Make hay while the sun shine,

Break an hourglass into sixty pieces.

Pick each one up and see if you've lived them through every minute.

Have you harvested the seasons passing or have you succumbed to the frozen times?

Whatever your calling, join us to know how to make hay while the sun shines.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On my first day in mysore, I meet a girl. We had a decent conversation which started with we telling our names to each other.  After hearing her name, I had curiosity to know the meaning of her name, which as per her meant “Sunshine”. Few days later, when we were allotted Desktop, luckily she was my partner. Of course, I didn’t remember her real name but only sunshine, which I call her till date.

Good Evening Fellow TM and dear guest!

She had many of her favorite quotes starting with sun shine all signifies different aspect of life. I made those in my quotes bucket list. Those help me in various phase of life. -- If you want to shine like a sun, first burn like a sun” by Dr. A.P.J  Kalam motivates me to work hard. --At times when I am away from my loved ones and lonely, the quote “Sun is alone to but it still shines” keeps me going. At my time of adversity the famous quote “We all will see Sunshine after Moonlight.” Helps me.  But the most favorite which tells importance of time is “Make the hay while sun shines”.  We are always bound by time constraint whatever act we are performing in life. So when sun shines upon us is I believe the time when universe wants us to collect as much hay as possible.  I can go on and on but time constraint won’t allow.

My role is also about making sure the meeting sticks to the time lines. So being a time keeper of the meeting, I would be noting down the time taken by all the speakers in the meeting and will notify the speakers how they are doing with their time.
Usually Toast Master’s take up various project and delivery prepared speeches. We don’t have any prepared speech today instead we have a 20 min activity being conducted by TMOD . For the activity, when 2 min of your allocated time is left I will be displaying the Green Screen. When Last 1 minute is left I will be displaying the yellow screen. A red screen is shown When the time is up. 30 seconds of grace time is given to the speaker after which the speaker must stop

In the Table topic section time duration for an impromptu speech is 2 minutes. When 1 min is remaining I will be displaying the green card. When 30 sec is left I will be displaying the yellow card and red card when the time is up. After this, 30 seconds of grace time is given to the speaker after which the speaker must stop. Theme: Book-Bound and Role: Grammarian

Role takers for 25th March 2020
MEETING 602
Online Meeting

Theme: Book-Bound๐Ÿ“•๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“˜๐Ÿ“”๐Ÿ“š

Pages, words, chapters and more;

Stories and fantasies and knowledge galore;

A friend, a companion and so much more,

Let this book-bound journey touch your existential shores.

Books are a hard bound drug with no danger of overdose. I am a happy victim of books. I received a story book as prize in 1st class. My love for reading books began. Every new standard came up with new books and new stories and that was something I always looked forward to. From stories, interest changed to learning science and history. But books always remained constant companion.

Good evening fellow toastmasters and dear guests.

Reading books may be the number one way you can improve your grammar. When you read, you reinforce correct grammar in your mind. ... In addition to improving your grammar, reading will help with all aspects of your writing, from sentence fluency to increased vocabulary, which will help in coming all future speeches.

<< Role description >>

As the Grammarian and Word Master of today's meet, I would be keeping an eye on incorrect grammar usage, mispronunciations, misplaced words and tenses, and the quality of language usage in general. I will also be noting the good words used and I will throw them open to the audience for the meanings. As the word master, I’d like to introduce the word and idiom of the day.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Word of the Day

Garner

- to obtain or collect something such as information, support etc

Example:- All the details that we garnered about his research has been made into a presentation.

Would anyone like to use WOD

Idiom of the Day

In a heartbeat

-immediately, without hesitation

Example:- Call me if you need any help, I'll be there in a heartbeat.

Would anyone like to use WOD

It is a club practice to show thumbs up on the usage of word and idiom of the day to encourage and appreciate the speaker. I would be presenting a report at the end of the meeting, highlighting the incorrect usage and giving the correct usage.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<<FOR FINAL REPORT>>

I have divided my report in 3 parts:
1.       Good words and phrases – 4 examples
2.       Incorrect usage and their correct usage – 2 examples

3.       Who used WOD and IOD?

Grammar tip:

Problems with 'highest' or 'the highest'?

Most grammar books will tell you that you need "the" before a superlative like "highest" or "lowest", but this is not always true.

We use "the" when there is a noun after the adjective e.g. the highest number, the highest proportion.

When we put the noun before, we don't need "the" e.g. the number was highest, the proportion was highest.
So, compare these 2 sentences:

- The UK had the highest rate of unemployment.
- The unemployment rate was highest in the UK.

Theme: Moments

MEETING 596 for 12th February 2020

Theme: M.O.M.E.N.T.S

Down the memory lane as our thoughts fly
Memories of the moments which made us feel low or high.
Some inevitable,
Some inseparable,
Yet, so memorable.
Moments! are perishable,
Yet so cherishable.

I believe, Moments are cyclic. If you are having a bad day, you will also have a happy day, similarly if you had a good day, you will have a bad day. It usually happens to me, I remember school days were good when in college and college days were good when I am working. However, everything has a fixed time, one can’t leave the moment again other than in ones memory. Nevertheless, Memory is deceptive as its colored by today's event. Let seize these moment as Moments are cyclic.

Good evening fellow TM and dear guests

In lot of moments there are few moments in our routine, especially in IT profession where the widow is taking time to load, or browser is connecting, please wait a moment pop up or most vital desktop is hanged.

Theme Camouflage:Role Ah counter

'When in Rome, do as the Romans do'

Concealing the hidden virtues and vices,
To camouflage the society's biases.
Adapting in order to become one with the crowd,
Instead of being the one around

Do you lose yourself in the quest of acceptance and adjustment or stand out and shine?

A ninja using smoke screen or a piece of cloth alike the wall to hide behind, as a child fascinated us. Concealing our abilities and focusing on just studies has been most part of my school days. We loved sports more than studying but that part washed-out in race to score good marks. Extra curriculum was always extra in our education system and never prioritized. As a grown up, we aspire many things at a time and miss opportunity. Famous quote by Thomas Edison says “Opportunity is missed by most people, because it is dressed in overalls & looks like work.”

Good Evening Fellow TM and dear guest

Camouflage has been always around us, also in our speech. there are many hidden elements which makes audience distract and prevents them from paying attention.

<<Handing over control>>

Timer role in TM Theme: Exploring the colors of India.

I asked my teacher, difference between Independence day and republic day? He reminded me of the difference, but also added something new in knowledge. He said "there is difference between speeches given on this days. One reminds of our glorious past while other gives glimpses of future which we are headed towards".This is the land of sages, land of peace and land of solidarity with world. We had our days of struggle, longings and violence. Today is not the day to talk about it. With the beginning of new decade, new hopes and new energy. My colorful, colorful  country, full of colors. Colors of India is its languages, food, spirituality, cultural heritage and architecture, various religion and traditions and faith.

To other countries, I may go as a tourist, but to India, I come as a pilgrim.- Martin Luther King Jr.

Have you ever had a conversation with a foreigner about India.By just answering few of their questions, one will see surprise in their eyes to know about your story and you.
This makes us so proud of our country.

Good Evening Fellow TM and dear guest!

When we talk about our motherland, i can go on and on but due to the time constraints i can't share more.We all know that how much we respect our time, so being a time keeper of the meeting, i would be noting down the time taken by all the speakers in the meeting and will notify the speakers how they are doing with their time.
